SEAI recognizes the challenges faced by homeowners affected by Defective Concrete Blocks (DCB) and offers home energy upgrade grants to support them in rebuilding and upgrading their homes. Grants are available under the same criteria as for homeowners not affected by DCB.

Eligibility:

Homeowners who are part of the DCB scheme are eligible to apply for SEAI home energy upgrade grants. For DCB-affected homeowners rebuilding their homes, if the original home was built prior to 2011, they qualify for a home energy upgrade grant.

Grant Application Process:

• To initiate the application process, DCB-affected homeowners must complete the Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Registration Form, available here.
• Essential information required includes the MPRN (found on any electricity bill) and the DCB scheme reference number.
• Upload a copy of the Confirmation of Grant Eligibility letter from the Local Authority.

Legislative Provisions:

Under current legislative provisions, homeowners can only claim additional grant measures from SEAI if support for these measures has not been provided in the past. The MPRN serves as the unique identifier for every property.

SEAI Collaboration:

SEAI is actively collaborating with the Housing Agency, DECC, and DHLGH to establish a seamless inclusion of the SEAI grant during the remediation stage. This approach ensures that homeowners can enhance their dwellings’ energy performance during the rebuilding process.
