The Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) stands as a beacon of progress, offering vital funding for low carbon technologies and systems. With a commitment to ending the UK’s contribution to climate change, NZIP emerges as a £1 billion fund, a crucial component of the Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution. This visionary initiative is dedicated to accelerating the commercialisation of low-carbon technologies, systems, and business models in critical sectors such as power, buildings, and industry.

Eligibility Criteria for NZIP:

To be eligible for the NZIP, businesses must meet specific criteria:

  • Be tax compliant with a valid Tax Clearance Certificate.
  • Carry on a Case I trade or Case II profession (including charities and approved sporting bodies).
  • Register with BEIS or Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
  • Present a clear business problem or idea requiring external expertise and resources.
  • Showcase the potential to increase sales, employment, or exports.
  • Be compliant with the European Union State Aid Temporary Crisis Framework and Transition.
Grant Details:

The value of the grant is determined by the project’s type, size, location, and the level of employment created or maintained. NZIP covers up to 70% of eligible costs for studies and up to 50% of eligible costs for deployment projects. The maximum grant amount per project is £14 million for studies and £40 million for deployment projects.
