Key Achievements

10Mil
kWh Annual Energy Savings

Energy Savings Achieved

The energy savings of 10,252,637kWh were achieved through conducting energy audits at each site and implementing energy upgrades identified at each site. Our Group Rollout Energy Audit is designed for businesses with multiple sites, ensuring each location operates at peak energy efficiency while achieving cohesive, company-wide energy savings.

€1.3Mil
Annual Cost Savings

Additional Benefits

Energy Audits provide useful information on the building and allows for the company to make better decisions about their energy usage and ROI. Through detailed energy audits, Celtic Dynamics identified annual cost savings of €1,331,534.

Trees Planted

The combined annual carbon savings achieved across Mowlam Healthcare’s 32 nursing homes are equivalent to planting 109,343 trees. This represents a substantial environmental impact, highlighting the scale and effectiveness of the energy efficiency measures implemented across the group.

Key Energy Solutions

Solar PV Installations

The planned installation of solar PV systems across the company’s nursing homes is expected to generate 2,561,288 kWh of clean electricity annually, resulting in projected energy cost savings of €1,001,165 and a reduction of 823.80 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. By offsetting grid electricity with on-site renewable generation, these systems will play a key role in advancing the company’s carbon neutrality goals while strengthening long-term energy resilience.

Mowlam Healthcare Energy Project
Heat Pump Installation

Heat Pump Upgrades

The rollout of modern heat pump technology is anticipated to significantly reduce fossil fuel consumption for heating, resulting in annual energy savings of 6,206,359 kWh and a carbon reduction of 1,062.36 tonnes of CO₂. While electrical demand will increase, the overall impact will be a substantial decrease in emissions, supporting the company’s commitment to sustainable operations and progress towards net-zero targets.

LED Lighting Retrofits

Upgrading lighting to high-efficiency LEDs throughout the nursing homes is expected to deliver annual electricity savings of 308,892 kWh and reduce energy costs by €127,305. This measure will also cut carbon emissions by 98.48 tonnes per year, while enhancing lighting quality and reducing maintenance requirements across all sites.

Lowering DHW Temperatures

Optimising domestic hot water temperatures is projected to save 872,760 kWh of thermal energy and €90,164 annually, with a corresponding reduction of 199.38 tonnes of CO₂. This simple control measure will help lower operational costs and the overall carbon footprint without compromising resident comfort or safety.

Other Solutions

Wall and Roof Insulation: Investments in wall and roof insulation are expected to yield significant thermal energy savings of 3,122,022 kWh per year, resulting in €261,641 in cost reductions and 715.88 tonnes less CO₂ emitted. Improved insulation will enhance building comfort, reduce heating demand, and support further gains from electrification measures.

Window Replacement: Replacing older windows with high-performance glazing is projected to deliver the largest single-site thermal savings, conserving 7,076,643 kWh of heat energy annually. This upgrade is expected to save €488,057 and reduce carbon emissions by 1,622.67 tonnes, while improving airtightness and year-round comfort for residents.

Together, these solutions are expected to drive major reductions in energy use, costs, and carbon emissions, positioning the company’s nursing homes as leaders in sustainability and energy management.

Services Provided

Our Process: Conduct Energy Audit, Identify savings and Implement Energy Measures. Each project is unique and requires a tailored approach. Here are some of the services we provided on this project.

Detailed Full Site Energy Audit

We first needed to establish the current state of the energy usage to guage the immediate priorities. The insights gained from the Mowlam Healthcare Energy Audits are invaluable for future projects.

Working Design

As part of the discovery phase, we gathered important data and metrics to help us decide on the best course of action.

Efficiency Solution Design

We designed a system which would enable the most efficient use of energy going forward. Implementing changes based on the Mowlam Healthcare Energy Audits will drive efficiency.

Management of Project Planning

We managed the project planning throughout the whole process utilising our tried and tested workflow.

Procurement Management

We researched the best suppliers for the different elements that we thought would benefit the project.

Complete Engineering Support During all Phases

Our years of experience in Engineering allowed us to support all phases of the project.

Site Installation, Safety Management & Quality Surveillance

The next phase was to oversee the installation of our recommended items, taking care with safety.
