Solar Power Purchase Agreements (Solar PPA)

Lock in cleaner, cheaper solar power without upfront capital.

A Solar Power Purchase Agreement (Solar PPA) lets your business access low-cost renewable electricity from a solar installation at a predictable price, while we handle the technical, commercial and project-delivery work in the background. It’s a long-term energy contract designed to cut costs, reduce risk, and accelerate your decarbonisation plans

What is a Solar PPA?

A Solar PPA is a contract between a solar energy generator and your organisation for the supply of solar power over a fixed period, typically 10–25 years.

Instead of buying electricity from the grid at volatile tariffs, a Solar PPA enables you to:

  • Source power directly from a dedicated solar asset (on-site or off-site).

  • Fix or index part of your energy price, improving long-term cost visibility.

  • Support new renewable capacity, helping bring additional solar generation onto the grid.

Celtic Dynamics supports both on-site solar PPAs (e.g. rooftop or ground-mount) and off-site / virtual solar PPAs, depending on your portfolio, load profile and risk appetite.

How Celtic Dynamics Solar PPA Services Work

We help you design and secure a Solar PPA tailored to your operational, financial and sustainability goals:

1

Baseline & Feasibility

  • Analyse your current electricity use, tariff structure and contractual obligations.

  • Identify suitable Solar PPA models (rooftop, ground-mount, off-site, virtual/Corporate Solar PPAs).

2

Commercial & Technical Design

  • Size the solar installation and define contract structure (tenor, pricing, volume, risk allocation).

  • Assess site constraints, solar resource, grid connection and regulatory considerations.

3

Tendering & Negotiation

  • Run a structured tender with qualified solar developers and suppliers.

  • Evaluate offers based on lifetime cost, indexation, flexibility, ESG impact and risk profile.

  • Support negotiations through to heads of terms and contract finalisation.

4

Implementation & Monitoring

  • Coordinate with internal teams (finance, legal, procurement, operations).

  • Oversee installation, commissioning and performance ramp-up.

  • Provide ongoing performance, savings and emissions-reduction reporting.

Who Is This Service For?

Our Solar PPA service is ideal for organisations that:

  • Consume significant electricity and want to stabilise or reduce energy costs.
  • Are committed to net-zero or science-based targets.
  • Operate multi-site portfolios (industrial, commercial, logistics, public sector, data centres, campuses).
  • Want to avoid upfront capex while benefiting from clean on-site or dedicated solar generation.

Key Benefits of a Solar PPA

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a Solar PPA last?
Most PPAs run for 10–25 years, depending on your risk profile, technology and commercial objectives. Shorter terms can sometimes be structured but may deliver less price certainty or value.

Do I need to own the solar asset?
No. Under a Solar PPA, the asset is usually funded, owned and operated by the developer or investor.

Can a Solar PPA cover all of my electricity demand?
It can, but most clients hedge only part of their load to balance flexibility and risk.

What if my electricity usage changes?
Solar PPAs can include flexibility for volume, baseload vs. shaped supply, and site changes. We help you understand the impacts before signing.

For broader context on corporate renewable PPAs, see guidance from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
