It's vital to to assess the current situation when doing solution design.
A lot of engineering companies just throw in equipment there used to and don't tend to look at what would get that client the best return on investment.
This is usually due to the incorrect assessment up front or the one solution fit's all mentality.
But this is just silly and can usually be avoided if you the get the client more involved in assessing the current situation with you as they will know the ins and outs of there issues effecting them.
That way you can get the best solution for them.
After all, it doesn't matter what the problems are, as an engineer it is our job is to find the best solutions.
