A project manager's tool kit can never be big enough and being able to provide the correct documents/advice in advance of any issues can make or break a project.
The main goal for a project manager is to reduce the number of issues throughout the lifetime of a project and to handle any issues that arise appropriately and swiftly.
This can sometimes make the task seem overwhelming especially for upper management managing multiple project managers.
But it can be simpler the main point is " Planning " getting this correct from the start makes all the difference.
Else fall to Murphy's law "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong"
So here's the best advice for a project manager, plan for everything that can go wrong first.
